SMS Notifications

Chip Tournament SMS Notifications

Chip Tournament offers optional SMS notifications to help players stay informed during tournament play. Notifications are transactional and relate only to tournaments in which the player is participating.

Optional Participation

SMS notifications are completely optional.

Players are not required to receive SMS notifications to register for or participate in a tournament.

Players who decline SMS notifications may still participate normally.

How Players Opt In

During tournament registration, before entering a player's mobile phone number, the Tournament Director verbally asks the player whether they would like to receive optional Chip Tournament SMS notifications related to their tournament participation.

SMS notifications are completely optional. Players are not required to consent to SMS notifications to register for or participate in a tournament.

If the player agrees, the Tournament Director enters the player's mobile phone number into Chip Tournament and clicks "Invite SMS."

Before the invitation can be sent, Chip Tournament displays a confirmation dialog with an unchecked checkbox requiring the Tournament Director to explicitly confirm that the player requested optional SMS notifications. The invitation cannot be sent unless this confirmation checkbox is manually selected.

After confirmation, Chip Tournament sends a one-time SMS invitation. No tournament-related SMS notifications are sent unless the player replies YES to that invitation. If the player does not reply YES, no additional SMS messages are sent.

Players may reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe or HELP for assistance. Message frequency varies based on tournament activity. Message and data rates may apply.

Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

In-App Consent Confirmation

Before an SMS invitation is sent, Chip Tournament displays a confirmation dialog to the Tournament Director. The Tournament Director must confirm that the player requested optional SMS notifications before the invitation can be sent.

The confirmation checkbox is unchecked by default and must be actively selected by the Tournament Director. Players are not required to opt in to participate in a tournament, and no tournament SMS notifications are sent unless the player later replies YES to the one-time SMS invitation.

The Send Invitation button remains disabled until the Tournament Director confirms that the player requested optional SMS notifications.

Types of Messages

Players who opt in may receive transactional tournament notifications including:

  • Tournament start notifications with a link to the live tournament viewer
  • Table assignment notifications
  • Opponent information
  • Tournament viewer links when available
  • Tournament status updates

Message frequency varies based on tournament participation and tournament activity.
